GENERAL
DESCRIPTION
To plan, direct and control
the overall operation of the nursing home and to carry out its objectives
of providing quality care and service to all residents and in accordance
with established federal, state and local policies, procedures and
guidelines.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS OF JOB:
1.
Establishes policies and procedures, goals and
objectives, pertaining to total patient care, personnel, medical staff,
financial status, public relations, maintenance of building and grounds
under broad directives from Commissioners.
2.
Reviews and assures compliance of institution with
federal, state and local standards and regulations.
3.
Supervises and directs all staff of the nursing
home and handles all personnel-related matters, including performance
evaluations and salary administration.
4.
Oversees the preparation of all policy and
procedure manuals required for the administration of the home.
5.
Interviews and evaluates applicants and makes
recommendations to Board of Commissioners for new department heads and
other
nursing home staff.
6.
Prepares annual budget, approves all operating
expenditures and monitors expenses of the nursing home.
7.
Approves inservice programs and seminars for staff
training and development and to maintain compliance with government
regulated instructional policies.
8.
Promotes and coordinates marketing and public
relations activities.
9.
Ensures overall positive labor relations.
10.
Authorizes purchases of major equipment and
supplies and approves all invoices.
11.
Meets with residents individually at least monthly
and with families as needed.
12.
Assists with the training and orientation process
of new employees.
13.
Assists personnel in establishing a home-like
atmosphere for all residents and their families.
14.
Maintains liaison with community hospitals and
other health facilities and coordinates with their services through
working and transfer agreements.
15.
Establishes contacts with outside agencies for
provision of services.
16.
Evaluates overall healthcare environment, trends,
and objectives as well as recommendations of various committees.
17.
Reviews and approves all applications for admission
to nursing home.
18.
Maintains current knowledge of all applicable
federal, state and local laws
affecting
nursing home administration and applies same to operation.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing,
Public Administration or related field, plus Nursing Home Administrator
license from the State of Pennsylvania.
Computer skills also required.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
5 years working experience in
health care facility, plus continuing education hours to maintain
Pennsylvania nursing home administrator's license.
2-3 years supervisory experience required.

$61,409-$74,648 (Full-time,
exempt position)
